Due to insufficient grounds to prosecute the accused and apply preventive measures, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department temporarily released the four flight attendants.

On the afternoon of March 23, at a regular press conference providing information on socio-economic issues ofTPLakeWillBrightLieutenant Colonel Le Manh Ha, Deputy Chief of Staff of Ho Chi Minh City Police, explained the release of four female flight attendants who carried drugs from France to Vietnam.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ha, this is just the first step. If the investigation discovers other signs and evidence that reinforce the violations of these four flight attendants, the investigation agency will still apply disciplinary measures, and it is not over.

Colonel Ha added that if these flight attendants knew how to transport drugs, the transportation fee would certainly not be equal to the price of normal consumer goods.

"Investigating and handling a person must be very careful and must include a full collection of evidence and discussions with the relevant authorities," said Lieutenant Colonel Ha, adding that the Investigation Police Agency temporarily released the four flight attendants because there was not enough evidence to prosecute them and apply preventive measures.

Previously, at 8:45 a.m. on March 16, through routine cargo screening, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch discovered a shipment of about 60 kg of goods, including 4 suitcases of flight attendants Tran Thi Thu Ngan, Vo Tu Quynh, Nguyen Thanh Thuy and Dang Phuong Van, which was suspicious and so was inspected.

Then, this agency coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security and the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Public Security.TPLakeWillBrightChecked, discovered in 4 suitcases, in addition to personal items, a total of 327 tubes of toothpaste (unopened, many different brands, each tube contained in a separate paper box) and 17 bottles of mouthwash.

Checking the toothpaste tubes mentioned above, authorities discovered 157 tubes containing a total of 11,284.57 grams of Ketamine and MDMA drugs.

On March 17, Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs Branch transferred the case file and evidence to the Police Investigation Agency.TPLakeWillBrightcontinue to investigate according to authority.

Based on the investigation results, on March 21, the authorities met, comprehensively evaluated the collected documents and evidence, and compared the provisions of the law. Initially, they determined that when the four flight attendants mentioned above were staying in France, a Vietnamese person asked them to transfer consumer goods, 327 tubes of toothpaste and 17 bottles of mouthwash, to Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat airport to send to their family members.

These flight attendants did not know that 157 of the 327 tubes of toothpaste they were transporting contained drugs; therefore, there was not enough evidence to prosecute them criminally.

On March 22, the Police Investigation AgencyTPLakeWillBrighthas decided to release the four flight attendants mentioned above.

Currently the Police Investigation AgencyTPLakeWillBrighthas initiated a case of illegal transportation of drugs to investigate and clarify the nature of the case, and strictly handle related subjects according to regulations.
