Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai branch of the Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB), Nguyen Tuan Cuong, was arrested to investigate the act of fraud and property appropriation.
On November 30, the Criminal Police Department of Quang Ngai Province executed an emergency search warrant and an order to temporarily detain suspect Nguyen Tuan Cuong (38 years old), Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai branch of the Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) to investigate the act of fraud and appropriation of property.
At the same time, the authorities also temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Bich Khue (Cuong's wife, 37 years old). Both reside in Nghia Chanh ward, Quang Ngai city, Quang Ngai province.
Previously, in his role as Deputy Director of VIB Quang Ngai Bank Branch, Nguyen Tuan Cuong told his relatives and friends that he needed money to pay off bank loans and buy land to sell for profit. Cuong also asked many people to borrow money from others. When the bank loan matured, Cuong and his wife would pay both principal and interest. Many people trusted Cuong and transferred money to Cuong to borrow. With the above trick, Cuong and his wife cheated 13 people and appropriated 61 billion VND.
Quang Ngai Provincial Police are expanding the investigation into the case. Quang Ngai Provincial Police request those who were deceived by Cuong and are related to the case to contact the Criminal Police Department, Quang Ngai Provincial Police to coordinate the resolution.
