'Current residence' is priority number 1

According to the request of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, districts/counties develop flexible enrollment plans based on 3 factors: Distribution of schools in the locality; Number of children of enrollment age; Information on "current residence" of students from the industry database. Using the GIS digital map system to calculate the travel distance of students, not distributed according to the administrative boundaries of wards, to create conditions for students to study near their current residence and in accordance with the actual local situation.

For schools located on the border between localities, the primary enrollment steering committee develops a suitable enrollment plan, creating favorable conditions for students to study near their current place of residence.

Admissions are conducted on the website https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn, through identification codes, information extracted 100% from the education sector database system.

The district/county primary school admission steering committee clearly identifies the priority candidates for admission, creating a legal basis for classification. There are 2 admission candidates, of which candidate 1 - for grade 1, priority will be given to students whose "current residence" is in the area and within the prescribed age; for grade 6, priority will be given to students whose "current residence" is in the area, who have completed primary school and are within the prescribed age. Candidate 2 is students who wish to study in an area that is not their actual residence.

Consider prioritizing admission in order of specific cases of each area such as: Students who have completed preschool or primary school in the area; Students whose father or mother works in the area (industrial parks, agencies, organizations located in the area); Students whose "current residence" according to VNEID is in the border areas between districts; Students transferring provinces; Students in specific cases of the locality.

For the first time, 2 specialized schools recruit nationwide.

For the first time, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted recruited students nationwide (Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted had done so before) on the condition that candidates fully met the requirements according to current regulations of the exam.

Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this priority goal is to facilitate parents in picking up and dropping off their children and supplement the source of students for localities with low numbers of children of enrollment age due to regional characteristics.

On the other hand, this comes from the fact that the modern facilities of the two specialized schools can meet the requirements of large-scale specialized training programs. At the same time, this is also one of the contents in the policy of attracting, nurturing talents and training high-quality human resources for Ho Chi Minh City as well as the whole country.
