General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wishes Happy New Year to leaders and former leaders of the Party and State

In the atmosphere of the whole country welcoming the Year of the Dragon 2024, celebrating the 94th birthday of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024), on the morning of February 7 (ie December 28, Quy Mao year), at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met and extended New Year greetings to leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In his New Year's greetings, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that our country has just gone through the year of the Cat - 2023 with many important, vibrant and rich events. In the context of the world, regional and domestic situation, in addition to opportunities and advantages, there are also many difficulties and challenges that are far beyond forecast; epidemics, natural disasters, droughts, storms and floods have developed complicatedly, causing damage in many localities, severely affecting most industries and fields, and many new complicated problems have arisen. However, with persistent efforts, struggles, will, mettle, resilience and creativity, our entire Party, people and army have united as one, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and achieved many important and quite comprehensive results and achievements in all fields.

Notably, the macro economy is basically stable, inflation is controlled, growth is positive, each quarter is higher than the previous quarter, 10/15 socio-economic development targets have been completed and exceeded; innovation and national brand indexes have all increased,... major balances of the economy are basically guaranteed.

The implementation of strategic breakthroughs and economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation have been promoted. Culture and society have made breakthroughs and new progress. Social security has been ensured. Social welfare and people's lives have been increasingly improved and enhanced. Poverty reduction, preferential policies for people with meritorious services, and new rural construction have achieved positive results. The work of Party building and rectification and the political system, preventing and combating corruption and negativity has continued to be promoted, achieving many outstanding results. Socio-political stability, national defense and security have been consolidated and enhanced, and national sovereignty has been maintained. Foreign affairs activities have taken place in a rapid, comprehensive, practical and effective manner, achieving many important and historic achievements, contributing to consolidating and enhancing Vietnam's role, potential, position and international prestige, which is a highlight of 2023.

The Resolutions of the 7th and 8th Central Committees of the 13th Party Congress have been promptly deployed to the grassroots. The Sub-committees preparing for the 14th Party Congress are actively implementing their tasks according to plan. The consolidation of leadership positions of Party and State agencies. The planning work for the 14th Party Central Committee for the 2026-2031 term has been carried out closely, thoroughly, cautiously, in accordance with regulations and procedures, contributing to stabilizing the apparatus, strengthening the Party's leadership, and creating high consensus within the Party and society. The democratic atmosphere within the Party and in society has been increasingly promoted, creating a combined strength. The country's new position and strength continue to develop.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his respect and deep gratitude to the veteran revolutionaries, cadres, party members, compatriots and soldiers nationwide, and overseas Vietnamese who have made great contributions to the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland in recent years, especially the outstanding achievements of 2023.

The General Secretary sent his thanks and best wishes to the officers and soldiers who are day and night protecting the sovereignty of the territory, borders, seas and sacred islands of the Fatherland and the peace of the people; remembered and expressed gratitude to the heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers; thanked international organizations and people of friendly countries near and far who have cooperated, helped and supported the cause of building and defending the Fatherland of the Vietnamese people.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the year of Giap Thin - 2024 is a very important year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2021-2025, and towards the 14th National Party Congress with new confidence, new spirit and new motivation.

The international and domestic situation has many opportunities and advantages, but also poses many difficulties and challenges, requiring our entire Party, people and army to have high determination, great will, and strive to achieve the set goals to successfully complete the tasks of 2024.

The focus is on striving to complete socio-economic development tasks at the highest level; stabilizing the macro-economy, focusing on removing difficulties for production and business activities. Continuing to develop the fields of culture, education, science and technology; protecting the environment, ensuring social security and social welfare, caring for and improving people's lives. Strengthening Party building and rectification, building a socialist rule-of-law state and a clean and strong political system. Administrative reform, judicial reform, preventing and combating corruption, negativity, waste, practicing thrift.

Strengthen national defense and security, maintain national independence and sovereignty, ensure political security, social order and safety, and a peaceful and stable environment for rapid and sustainable national development. Comprehensively and synchronously deploy foreign affairs and extensive international integration in the spirit of maximizing internal resources, taking advantage of external resources, and improving the effectiveness of international cooperation. Build the great national unity bloc, enhance consensus and people's trust in the Party. Continue to actively prepare for party congresses at all levels and the 14th National Congress of the Party; innovate and improve the planning work of the 14th Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat for the 2026-2031 term; draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted that the immediate key tasks are to overcome all difficulties, remove obstacles, boost production and business; care for the lives of people, officers and soldiers on duty to protect the Fatherland in border areas, seas and islands; and care for people to celebrate Tet happily and peacefully.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested that our entire Party, people and army need to strengthen solidarity; once united, we must become even more united; once determined, we must become even more determined; join hands and unite, promote the spirit of patriotism, Vietnamese bravery and intelligence, and the nation's cultural and heroic traditions; strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and turn favorable opportunities into realistic results.

On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wishes the revolutionary cause of our Party and people to achieve even greater victories; 2024 to be even more victorious, develop faster and more sustainably than 2023; wish our Party and our country's political system to become increasingly clean and strong in all aspects; our country to become increasingly developed, prosperous, civilized and prosperous; our people to become increasingly well-off; every family to be joyful, every person to be happy, and everything to go smoothly.
