Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visits, presents gifts, and wishes a happy New Year in Can Tho

In the atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024) and jubilantly welcoming the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, on the morning of February 4, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited, wished a happy new year, and presented gifts to 650 policy families, poor households, workers, homeless elderly people, and children in difficult circumstances in Can Tho city.

Also attending were President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang; Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu; representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Red Cross Society and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers of Can Tho City.

Reporting on the socio-economic development situation, the leaders of Can Tho city said that with the quite comprehensive results achieved in all areas, the city has been implementing well the Directive of the Secretariat and the Directives and Telegrams of the Prime Minister, ensuring that all people can celebrate the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024 happily, healthily, safely and economically. By the end of January 2024, Can Tho had presented 73,902 gifts with a total value of over 74 billion VND to workers and poor households.

Praising Can Tho for its socio-economic development and taking care of people during Tet, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in 2023, in the context of many difficulties and challenges, thanks to the participation of the entire political system, under the leadership of the Party, regularly and directly by the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the supervision and companionship of the National Assembly, the consensus of the people, businesses, and the support of international friends, we have synchronously, resolutely, with a focus on key tasks and solutions, basically achieving the set general goals, in which all social targets have been achieved and exceeded.

The work of taking care of people during Tet has received attention and joint efforts from Party committees, authorities, organizations, and the entire political system, especially in remote, border, and island areas, families with meritorious services, poor households, workers, homeless elderly people, and children in difficult circumstances across the country.

Sending New Year greetings, the Prime Minister wished that the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and the political system of Can Tho city would continue to effectively implement the guidelines, policies, and laws of the Party and the State, in which economic development is the center, Party building is the key, cultural development is the spiritual foundation; ensuring national defense and security is essential and regular; doing better in ensuring social security, improving the material and spiritual life of the people... Can Tho successfully carries out socio-economic development tasks according to the Resolution of the City Party Committee; contributing with the whole country to successfully complete the tasks and goals set forth by the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The Prime Minister requested Can Tho to organize forces on duty to ensure security, safety and public safety; well control traffic safety, alcoholism, gambling and other social evils; be ready to prevent and fight fires; promptly examine and treat people when they are sick...

In particular, the Prime Minister requested Can Tho city to continue to review which households are still in difficulty, vulnerable, sick; which social policy and protection beneficiaries have not received attention... to promptly support, ensuring that all people can celebrate Tet happily, healthily, safely, economically, and meaningfully; no one is left behind.

On this occasion, in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group presented 10 billion VND to 200 households in Can Tho city to remove temporary and dilapidated houses.

Also on the morning of February 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited, wished a happy New Year, and presented gifts to the family of pre-uprising cadre Le Van Lai (Ba Buong), 105 years old, in Bui Huu Nghia ward, and the family of severely disabled soldier Lam Thi Muoi, 88 years old, in Binh Thuy ward, Binh Thuy district.

At the places he visited, with deep gratitude, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Party, State and people always remember the sacrifices and great contributions of those who rendered great service to the revolution in the struggle for national liberation.

The Prime Minister wished Mr. Le Van Buong and Ms. Lam Thi Muoi good health, continued to set an example of revolutionary tradition, and contributed to building the homeland and country to become more beautiful, rich, and civilized.
