National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visits and wishes a happy New Year to officers and soldiers of the Border Guard

On behalf of the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Border Guard, reported on some outstanding results of border work in 2023.

At the Border Guard Command, after listening to reports on border work, the National Assembly Chairman sent New Year greetings, encouragement, and inquired about the situation of taking care of poor households during Tet (Serepoc Border Guard Station, Dak Lak Border Guard); about helping the Chut ethnic group build a new life, adopting 4 Chut ethnic group students in Rao Tre village, Huong Lien commune (Ban Giang Border Guard Station, Ha Tinh Border Guard); health care for people in mountainous and border areas, officers and soldiers, especially near Tet, the cold air in the mountainous border areas of Ha Giang is maintained at 1 - 9 degrees Celsius in some places... (Xin Man Border Guard Station, Ha Giang Border Guard).

The Border Guard Station Chiefs reported on the excellent implementation of the work of taking care of Tet for the people, officers and soldiers, especially sending officers and soldiers to celebrate Tet with the villagers; together with the authorities and sponsors at all levels to give Tet gifts, support poor and disadvantaged households, ensuring "no one is left behind"; affirming the determination to overcome difficulties, protect border security, maintain national sovereignty and build a strong border area.

Border Guard - the fulcrum on the border

Speaking at the Border Guard Command bridge point, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman sent to the comrades in the Party Committee, the Command and all officers, soldiers, workers and civil servants of the Border Guard force, especially the comrades in green uniforms and the people of all ethnic groups in the border and island areas of the Fatherland his deep and sincere feelings and best wishes on the occasion of the coming of Tet and Spring.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that in 2023, the world and domestic situation had many more difficulties and complex challenges than forecast, but our country had achieved many important and quite comprehensive results in all fields. Contributing to the country's overall achievements, there were important contributions from the Border Guard force.

“Comrades have proactively grasped, assessed, and accurately forecasted the situation, promptly advised on many policies and solutions to organize management, firmly protect territorial sovereignty, border security, sea and island areas; closely coordinated with all levels, sectors, forces and local authorities to promptly and effectively handle issues related to borders, territorial sovereignty, incidents and events occurring on the border, sea and island areas, avoiding being passive or surprised, contributing to firmly protecting sovereignty, border security, sea and island areas, promptly preventing violations on the sea areas of the Fatherland; strictly maintaining combat readiness, closely coordinating with forces to protect the safety of the country's political events”, the National Assembly Chairman stated.

In the coming time, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Border Guard force to continue to fully grasp and seriously implement the Party's directives and resolutions, the State's policies and laws on the task of ensuring national defense and security, focusing on the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee (13th tenure) on the Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, Resolution No. 33 dated September 28, 2018 of the Politburo on the strategy for protecting the national border, the Law on Vietnam Border Guard and related legal documents.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized the need to properly implement Treaties, Protocols, Agreements, and Regulations related to territorial border issues, border management, and border gate protection signed between Vietnam and neighboring countries.

The Border Guard thoroughly grasped the direction of General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission Nguyen Phu Trong: "Wherever there are the most difficulties, the Army must be present" and "The Border Guard must be the mainstay on the border"; focused on improving the capacity to advise and organize the implementation of Border Guard work at all levels; studied and perfected methods and plans to organize the management and protection of the national border in the new situation; grasped and correctly assessed the situation, promptly advised and effectively handled arising incidents, and absolutely did not let themselves be surprised in any situation.

Building a clean, strong, revolutionary, disciplined, elite Border Guard force, gradually modernizing, some components advancing straight to modernity, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Always imbued with the advice of President Ho Chi Minh at the Force's Founding Ceremony on March 28, 1959 "Solidarity, vigilance/ integrity, thrift/ completing tasks/ overcoming difficulties/ bravery before the enemy/ forgetting oneself for the country/ loyalty to the Party/ devotion to the people".

The Border Guard closely coordinates with sectors, levels and functional forces to create breakthroughs in crime prevention and control; promotes the application of information technology, administrative procedure reform, digital transformation, improves the quality and efficiency of management and control of entry and exit activities; actively participates in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, epidemics, search and rescue; contributes to preventing and ending illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU)...

The National Assembly Chairman requested the Border Guard force to continue to do a good job of mobilizing the masses, promoting the spirit of "The station is home, the border is homeland, and ethnic people are blood brothers", actively participating in building a strong political base in the border area, helping people develop the socio-economy, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, build new rural areas and cultural life in residential areas.

Along with that, it is necessary to effectively promote the Border Guard cadres participating in district and commune-level Party Committees, commune-level reinforced cadres, Border Guard Station Party members participating in village Party cells and Party members in charge of households; continue to effectively implement programs and movements to help people with profound humanity, spread widely, and strengthen the close relationship between the army and the people such as "Spring Border Guard warms the hearts of the villagers", "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the Border Guard Station", "Border - Full Moon Festival Night"...

Continue to promote propaganda, popularize legal education, raise awareness for officials and people in border areas; build a strong and stable all-people border defense and all-people border defense posture, a strong and long-term people's heart posture associated with people's security, a solid people's security posture, and build a widespread all-people border protection force.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized the importance of thoroughly grasping and implementing the Party and State's foreign policy and viewpoints, constantly improving the effectiveness of defense diplomacy and border diplomacy; promoting twinning activities between the Vietnam Border Guard and border protection forces of neighboring countries, contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.

In the immediate future, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Party Committee, the High Command and the entire Border Guard force to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Directive 26 of the Secretariat on organizing the Giap Thin New Year in 2024; organize patrols, inspections and strict control of borders and border gates, maintain political security, order and social safety in border areas and border gates before, during and after Tet; ensure full standards and Tet regimes for soldiers to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet happily, warmly, safely and economically; pay utmost attention and care for policy beneficiaries and poor households in border areas, creating the best conditions for everyone and every family to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman especially commended the Border Guard for synchronously, practically and effectively implementing the program "Border Spring warms the hearts of the villagers" in 44 border provinces and cities, creating a meaningful political - cultural activity, a social security activity with profound humanity, high spread, contributing to supporting tens of thousands of policy families, families in difficult circumstances and poor students in the border areas to have a full and warm Tet.

"The work of you comrades is truly a noble gesture that brightens the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people. It needs to continue to be promoted and expanded even more," said the National Assembly Chairman.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman presented a number of gifts to Border Guard Stations located in particularly difficult areas, Border Guard Stations that are adopting orphans and children in special circumstances in their units, and children who are "Border Guard Station's adopted children".
