Full text of the inauguration speech of General Secretary To Lam

On the morning of August 3, in Hanoi, the 13th Party Central Committee met to introduce personnel and elect the General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee.

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and Prime Minister, chaired the conference on behalf of the Politburo.

At the conference, based on the Party's regulations and on the Politburo's personnel introduction orientation, the Central Committee promoted a sense of responsibility, focused on intelligence, discussed democratically, respected and reached a very high consensus with 100% of the votes to elect Comrade To Lam, Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to hold the position of General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Dear Central Committee comrades!
Dear conference attendees!

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the Politburo for their trust in introducing me, and the Central Committee comrades for their trust in electing and entrusting me with the important responsibility of General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

This is a great honor and at the same time a great responsibility before the Party, before the people, before the glorious thousand-year history of the nation's civilization and the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland in the new era.

I promise before the Central Committee, before the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army, to constantly strive, together with the comrades of the Central Committee, to inherit and strongly promote the glorious tradition, valuable experience of our Party and the achievements of the Congresses, including the 13th Congress; to promote to the highest level the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride"; to constantly strengthen solidarity and unity within the Party, the great solidarity of the entire nation; to continue to promote Party building and rectification, to prevent and combat corruption and negativity; to unite thoughts and actions, Party ideas and people's hearts; to be devoted, devoted, devoted, and strive and sacrifice for a strong Communist Party of Vietnam; for a rich, strong, democratic, fair and civilized Vietnam; for the Vietnamese people to have a prosperous and happy life. Focus on directing the organization of the review of 40 years of national renovation and the work to successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, inheriting important theoretical achievements on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam that have been summarized by generations of Party leaders, including General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, setting out the right direction, leading the country to continue to develop comprehensively in the coming time.

I firmly believe that the 13th Party Central Committee will be a strong collective, the core gathering strength, leading the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to successfully implement the Party's policies and guidelines, first of all the Resolution of the 13th National Congress, creating a solid foundation to fulfill the country's goal of 100 years under the Party's leadership, 100 years of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, by the middle of the 21st century, our country will become a socialist-oriented developed country.

The recent changes in the Party have contributed to strengthening the Party's strength, consolidating solidarity and unity, improving the effectiveness, efficiency and people's trust in the Party. I hope to continue to receive close coordination from Central comrades so that I can successfully complete the assigned tasks.

The road ahead is full of difficulties and challenges, but with solidarity, unanimity, promoting intelligence, courage and strong, correct and wise decisions of the Party, we firmly believe that our country will develop more and more prosperously, our people will become more and more prosperous, our nation will become more and more prosperous, and steadily move towards socialism.

Once again, I would like to sincerely and deeply thank the Central Committee and the entire Party for entrusting me with this great responsibility.
