Organizing a festival of Ao Ba Ba, fabric woven from pineapple silk

The fabric for the Ao Ba Ba festival will be woven from pineapple silk.

On June 26, Ms. Ho Thu Anh - Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee - said that the Ao Ba Ba festival held in Vi Thanh city will take place from September 29 to October 1.

The stage is designed in the Lotus Lake area to both exhibit and perform and create a place for playing folk games, while the photo exhibition will be held at the Xa No embankment.

Ms. Anh said that the Ao Ba Ba festival is a special, new, but familiar and meaningful cultural event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hau Giang province's establishment.

Pineapple silk is made by using a machine to separate the fibers from pineapple leaves, then the pineapple silk fibers are processed and woven into fabric.

Hau Giang province has more than 3,100 hectares of pineapple grown in Vi Thanh city and Long My district and is the local staple crop.

Using pineapple silk to weave fabric for Ao Ba Ba not only takes advantage of available raw materials but also increases the value of pineapple plants.
