Volunteer to contribute from simple things

In Youth Month 2024, all levels of the Youth Union, members and young people across the country made their mark with a series of practical projects and tasks aimed at the community. Activities during Youth Month not only contribute to ensuring social security but also provide an opportunity for young people to experience, share love and responsibility with the community and constantly strive to improve themselves.

Last Sunday, my niece, a third-year student at a university in Hanoi, came home for the weekend. When she learned that the Youth Union in her hometown had a “Green Sunday” program, she volunteered to participate. She and her fellow members planted trees in the school grounds in the commune, cleaned up, and removed advertisements and classified ads... Even when she returned home, she took the initiative to clean up and called on everyone in the house and neighbors to join in cleaning up. Although her actions were small, they spread to many people around her, making the environment cleaner.

An 11th grade student in Hai Duong City goes with his mother to Cuong Xa Pagoda in Hai Tan Ward every weekend to cook charity porridge for patients and their families at several hospitals in Hai Duong City. He also encourages his friends to join in this activity.

Over the years, volunteer activities in localities in the province have always received positive responses from young people. Not only during the peak of March - Youth Month, many volunteer activities have become routine, maintained and organized regularly. Each place and each locality has its own activities and programs, but in general, it is to create a meaningful, healthy movement, attracting many young people to participate; thereby nurturing the spirit of volunteering and dedication of young people.

Many young people have participated in volunteer activities for the community and social security by doing the smallest things such as planting a tree, cleaning the environment, participating in car washing to raise funds to give gifts to poor children... There are young people who voluntarily save money to contribute to building youth projects... Those simple but meaningful actions have created a spread among young people, contributing to forming a responsible and dedicated lifestyle in each person.

According to statistics from Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union, on March 17 alone, nearly 7,000 union members in the province volunteered to clean up 377 km of village roads, alleys, drainage canals, collect 5.7 tons of waste, dismantle more than 2,700 illegal advertising signs, and plant 38,750 trees...

On March 16, participating in the "Saturday of volunteering to resolve administrative procedures for the people", the youth in the province also supported and helped people to resolve hundreds of administrative procedure files. Along with that, a series of projects and tasks of the Youth Union at all levels have been carried out since the beginning of March, such as lighting up rural roads; free medical examination and treatment activities for policy beneficiaries; supporting policy families to repair houses and build roads.

The most valuable meaning of volunteer activities is to form a responsible lifestyle, knowing how to contribute to the youth generation. In order for the spirit of volunteering to spread more and more, each person, each young person can start doing the smallest, simplest things without calculating the gains and losses.
