At 10:45 a.m. on October 8, the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane (Laos), beginning a working trip to attend the 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and related summits.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at Wattay International Airport on the Lao side were Minister of Energy and Mines Phosay Sayyasone; Director of the Inspection Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kaimany Orlaboune; Deputy Director of the Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Outama Sitthiphong.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, Vietnamese Consul General in Luang Prabang Kieu Thi Phuc Hang, Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse Nguyen Van Trung; Vietnamese Consul General in Savanakhet Dang Thi Hoai Tam and many officials, staff of the Embassy, and Vietnamese expatriates in Laos.
The 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related conferences in Vientiane from October 8-11 are the most important series of high-level activities of ASEAN this year, with the participation of leaders of ASEAN countries, Timor Leste and 10 ASEAN partners, along with many invited guests who are representatives of international and regional organizations.
With the spirit of being ready to contribute and make every effort for the common success, the Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed many important messages about ASEAN and the future of the bloc. In particular, Vietnam will participate in contributing to the direction of ASEAN cooperation, exploiting the existing cooperation mechanisms to the fullest and actively negotiating new cooperation frameworks to promote new growth drivers, in accordance with the new situation, context and trends.
In particular, the Vietnamese delegation will propose ideas to promote the shaping of ASEAN's future, while positioning ASEAN's role in the region and on the international stage, especially ASEAN's participation and contribution to global issues.
Attending all 20 activities within the framework of the ASEAN Summit and related summits, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will deliver important speeches sharing Vietnam's views on current issues facing ASEAN and the region, and discuss with other countries ways and solutions to further improve the quality of regional cooperation and connectivity, consolidate the process of building the ASEAN Community, promote relations between ASEAN and its partners, in addition to proactively discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Also on this occasion, the Prime Minister will have bilateral meetings with leaders of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partners to promote cooperation and discuss issues of mutual concern.
In particular, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will have meetings with senior leaders of the Lao Party and State to promote the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
