Regarding the case of 9 people missing in the sinking of a fishing boat in Korea, including 2 Vietnamese, by February 6, the Korean side had discovered 4 bodies of the victims.
According to the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea, the South Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced that on the night of February 4, a fishing boat sank off the coast of Sinan County, Jeonnam Province, South Korea, leaving 9 out of 12 crew members missing, including 2 Vietnamese citizens.
A 24-ton fishing boat capsized in waters 16.6 km off the uninhabited Daebichi Island. Authorities are continuing to search for nine missing fishermen, including two Vietnamese citizens.
As of February 6, the South Korean side has discovered four bodies of victims of unknown nationality. The search is still ongoing.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea proactively worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Coast Guard on the incident; directed the Labor Management Board to request the dispatching company and relevant agencies to identify the identities of the injured crew members; contacted the families of the two victims and provided instructions on necessary procedures.
Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea is actively coordinating with Korean authorities to urgently deploy necessary citizen protection measures. The Embassy also said that the local authorities are very concerned and are closely cooperating with the Embassy in handling issues related to Vietnamese citizens in this accident.
