A cruise ship was traveling from Quang Ninh to Hai Phong City for repairs when it caught fire at sea, 6 crew members escaped.

At 5:15 p.m. on August 2, the ship caught fire in Dau Chu area, off the coast of Phu Long commune, Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city.
According to some witnesses, the fire started from the stern and spread quickly, engulfing the ship. The column of black smoke rose high and could be seen from several kilometers away.
6 crew members tried to bring the ship closer to the shore of Phu Long commune to facilitate rescue by authorities.
Hai Phong fire fighting and rescue ship, along with border guards, police, and militia from communes in Cat Hai district and Got - Cai Vieng ferry, organized the rescue.
After about an hour, the fire was extinguished. However, the ship was burned down. The 6 crew members were taken to Phu Long Commune People's Committee for medical care.
Authorities are investigating the cause.
