The BYD YangWang U7 super sedan can run 800km per charge, even though the car's capacity is up to approximately 1,300 horsepower.
BYD YangWang U7 is the second model of the luxury brand YangWang
BYD, in an effort to expand its lineup, announced its luxury sub-brand YangWang last year. They have so far announced two product lines, the U8 super SUV and the U7 super sedan. Of the group, the U8 has been revealed quite completely while the U7 has only been released with exterior photos.
By early February, BYD YangWang U7 had leaked many parameters after China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology posted vehicle data on its portal.
The car design is a stylish 4-door sporty coupe sedan hybrid.
Information from the above source shows that the BYD YangWang U7 will use 4 electric motors for a total capacity of 1,287 horsepower. For comparison, the most powerful version of the Tesla Model S, the Plaid, has a capacity of only 1,025 horsepower. A popular and powerful sports car on the market, the BMW M5, has a capacity of 600 horsepower.
Powering the powertrain is a massive 135.5 kWh battery. Weighing in at 900kg, the battery gives the BYD YangWang U7 a range of 800km per charge.
However, partly because of the weight, the BYD YangWang U7 can only reach a maximum speed of 270 km/h compared to the 322 km/h of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The interior of the BYD YangWang U7 has not been announced yet but can be referenced from its senior SUV U8.
The exterior of the BYD YangWang U7, based on the published photos, features the signature rounded style of high-performance electric vehicles to optimize aerodynamics. According to BYD, this sedan has a drag coefficient of only 0.195 Cd. The interior of the car has not been released yet.
In terms of technology, the BYD YangWang U7 is promised to be equipped with a level 3 self-driving system with advanced sensors and lidar. This level of self-driving has not been applied by many car manufacturers worldwide and if it is, it is very limited depending on the location with supporting navigation maps.
