A supermarket in Bazhong City, Sichuan Province, China, has just held a special promotion, in which the first 100 customers each day will receive 10 free eggs regardless of the value of their order. This program quickly attracted a large number of local residents, especially middle-aged and elderly people.

Every day, many elderly people wait in front of the supermarket from early morning to be able to enter as soon as it opens, shop and receive free eggs. Among them is an 84-year-old woman named Duong. She was pushed down while waiting in line for the supermarket to open, and although she was taken to the emergency room immediately, she still did not survive.

Grieving and angry over the unjust death of Mr. Duong, the victim's family decided to sue the supermarket manager. After the trial, the appeals court recently made a final decision: the supermarket must bear 30% responsibility for the incident and must compensate the victim's family 99,000 yuan (about 347 million VND).

The verdict has attracted public attention, sparking much debate in the community about the responsibility of businesses in ensuring customer safety when organizing promotional programs.

There is currently no information on whether the supermarket plans to appeal the court's decision.
