'Golden stars' dominate the 2024 ASEAN Cup's best lineup

On the afternoon of January 16, the Organizing Committee of the ASEAN Cup 2024 announced the results of the vote for the tournament's best squad. It is no surprise that the Vietnamese team, the defending champion, has the most faces in this squad with 7 players.

In defense, Nguyen Dinh Trieu has no rival for the goalkeeper position. The number 1 goalkeeper of the Vietnamese team was previously awarded the title of Best Goalkeeper of the tournament by the Organizing Committee after his excellent performance at the ASEAN Cup 2024. Dinh Trieu started 6 matches, all helping the Vietnamese team win. He only conceded 6 goals, keeping a clean sheet in 3 matches.

In the defense, center back Bui Hoang Viet Anh surprisingly made the list despite not playing much in the 2024 ASEAN Cup. Meanwhile, Bui Tien Dung deserved to be voted into the tournament's best squad.

The two remaining defenders in the best squad are Mickelson and Pansa from Thailand, with Pansa scoring an own goal in the second leg of the final between Vietnam and Thailand.

In midfield, despite his impressive performance, Hoang Duc was not named. Instead, there were two faces of the Vietnamese team, Hai Long and Quang Hai. The two remaining midfielders were Sandro Reyes (Philippines) and Kyoga Nakamura (Singapore).

In the forward line of the 4-4-2 formation, both voted faces are from the Vietnamese team, Nguyen Tien Linh and Nguyen Xuan Son. Tien Linh scored 4 goals, while Xuan Son had 7 goals after 5 matches, 2 assists, and was awarded the Best Player and Top Scorer awards by the Organizing Committee.

This lineup was selected by the Organizing Committee based on the voting results of readers on the Aseanutdfc website from January 6 to 16. The Organizing Committee did not specifically announce the voting percentage of each player.
