On the morning of February 23, the Chung cake wrapping and Giay cake pounding contest will open the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival.

According to the Organizing Committee of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival, 12 teams representing 12 districts, towns and cities in the province registered for the Chung cake wrapping competition; 7 districts, towns and cities including: Cam Giang, Tu Ky, Kim Thanh, Nam Sach, Kinh Mon, Hai Duong City, Chi Linh City registered for the Giay cake pounding competition.

Each team consists of 5 members making banh chung and 6 members making banh giay, all of whom are local folk artists. When participating in the competition, all members must wear traditional festival costumes.

The banh chung wrapping teams will wrap 10 cakes, including 5 salty cakes and 5 vegetarian cakes, in a maximum of 15 minutes. The cakes are wrapped entirely by hand, without using molds.

The teams competing in pounding rice cakes must steam sticky rice, pound rice cakes and complete 5 cakes within 50 minutes. The cakes are labeled with the words “Phuc”, “Loc” or “Tho” in red in Han Nom characters.

The Chung cakes and Giay cakes of the teams with high prizes will be offered by the festival's Organizing Committee to Buddha and Saints and used in the procession of Chung cakes and Giay cakes and incense offering ceremonies at Con Son Pagoda, Nguyen Trai Temple and Tran Nguyen Dan Temple to pray for favorable weather, health and prosperity.

The organizing committee will summarize and award prizes to the teams with high achievements in the competition on the afternoon of February 24.
