The anthology 'Hai Duong prose about revolutionary war' includes 32 good quality works by authors who are members of the Hai Duong Provincial Literature and Arts Association.
On the morning of January 10, the Literature Department, Hai Duong Province Literature and Arts Association organized the launch of the anthology "Hai Duong prose about revolutionary war".
The book was published to pay tribute to the generations of fathers who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland in the wars against foreign invaders. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong (1804-2024); 50 years of national reunification (April 30, 1975-April 30, 2024); at the same time, to widely propagate the value, role and significance of works written on the theme of revolutionary war to generations of readers.
The anthology, published by the Writers Association Publishing House, includes 32 high-quality works by 32 authors who are members of the Hai Duong Province Literature and Arts Association, with the core being members of the Literature Board through the periods. Among them are many famous writers of Hai Duong who have passed away such as: Phu Thang, Nguyen Luan, Do Thi Hien Hoa, Nguyen To Hieu, Ho Duy Khuong, Le Ngung, Tran Phong Son...
In terms of form, the book consists of 429 pages (not including the main cover and lining cover). The main cover is designed and presented quite eye-catchingly with the main color being yellow - brown, on which is the image of the legendary Phu Luong bridge that has gone down in history, associated with the glorious feats of the army and people of Hai Duong through the two wars against France and America.
In terms of content, the 32 works include 18 short stories, 5 memoirs, 7 essays and 2 novel excerpts.
In the short stories and novel excerpts, in harmony with the flow of the country's literary world, Hai Duong authors with a steadfast ideology and high responsibility of writers always stick to reality, creating works that breathe life.
Many writers have served in the army, so the reality of war and wartime life are brought into their works very vividly and realistically. It is noteworthy that out of 18 short stories, 1/3 of the works mention the status of women in war, which is very touching.
All five memoirs in the anthology recreate the context and atmosphere of the era, recording milestones of time, place, and feats of arms, and especially highlighting portraits of real people in the life and fighting of the seething revolutionary period.
The memoirs in this book are reflected by the authors in a very diverse and vivid way, with both story elements and direct participation of research thinking.
This is the first time that the Literature Department, Hai Duong Province Literature and Arts Association, through socialized funding, has successfully published a book that not only has literary and artistic value but also has profound historical significance.
