Marie Curie Secondary and High School (Hai Duong City) awards scholarships to disadvantaged students for the 2024-2025 school year

Do Hoang Quan, grade 10, Marie Curie Secondary and High School (Hai Duong City) is in the most difficult situation in the school year 2024-2025. 2 years ago, his father suffered from kidney failure and had to have a kidney transplant. Every month, his father still has to go to the hospital for treatment. Quan's mother's left eye is damaged, and her right eye is also getting worse. Notably, Quan's grandparents, parents and uncle's family live in a rather cramped house. Due to economic difficulties, every night he helps his grandmother sell water at Thong Nhat Square.

Understanding Quan's situation, Marie Curie High School has used the Pham Xuan Mai Scholarship Fund to waive 100% of his tuition, equivalent to 22 million VND/school year. The scholarship covers all tuition fees at the school.

“The support from the school and the love from the teachers are great motivations that help me have more confidence to continue on the path of learning. I will try my best to study so as not to let down the school and teachers,” Quan said.

Quan is one of eight disadvantaged students of the school who received scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year. Most of them are pitiful and lack affection due to their parents' divorce.

Every year, Marie Curie Secondary and High School surveys students in difficult circumstances to determine appropriate levels of support. These students are awarded tuition-free scholarships ranging from 25-100% per school year.

Since the fund was established, 2024-2025 is the first school year that the Pham Xuan Mai Scholarship Fund has provided the most financial support with more than 2.3 billion VND. Of which, 8 disadvantaged students above were supported with 87 million VND. In addition, the fund spent nearly 1.5 billion VND to provide incentives for the first school year for all students studying at the school's second campus; more than 110 million VND for students who are brothers, sisters, and students studying at the same school; tens of millions of VND to reward students with academic achievements...
