Mr. Pham Van Hat - a farmer in Hai Duong who only finished 7th grade but is very good at inventing agricultural machines has been honored to be included in textbooks, becoming an inspiration and motivation for the younger generation. Recently, this farmer has successfully created a device to save people in fire after many years of research.

“Agricultural machine wizard” is the title of the reading in the Vietnamese textbook for grade 4, volume 1, page 110 (in the Canh Dieu book series) published by the Vietnam Education Equipment and Publishing Investment Company (VEPIC) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Publishing House. The title itself has created an attraction for students about a farmer who, although only finished grade 7, is very talented - Pham Van Hat. The reading has a picture of Mr. Hat sitting next to the “Seed-planting Robot” along with some key information about this farmer.

“Thank you publisher. I feel really surprised and honored. I consider this a great motivation to continue researching and creating new products to contribute to the development of the country,” Mr. Hat shared.

Many education managers in Hai Duong, including Director of the Department of Education and Training Luong Van Viet, are not sure whether any farmer from Dong province has ever been included in textbooks in the past. But they affirm that in this period, Mr. Hat is the first farmer in Hai Duong and possibly the first farmer in Vietnam to have this honor.

The above book is being used for popular teaching in primary schools in Hai Duong. Ms. Doan Thi Muoi, homeroom teacher of class 4C at Hung Dao Primary School (Tu Ky) taught a demo reading lesson "Agricultural machine wizard" and said: "This is a very special lesson because it is rare for farmers from Hai Duong to be included in textbooks. Both teachers and students are very excited. Some students even recognized "Uncle Hat" when the teacher showed his image on TV in class even though they had not heard the lesson content introduced. Teaching and learning the lesson about Mr. Hat helps both teachers and students realize that no matter what the circumstances, we need to persevere and strive to overcome difficulties, promote the spirit of self-study and creativity, then we will be successful and do useful things for our homeland and country."

Mr. Hat started inventing machines in 2012. With his talent, passion, intelligence and acumen, over the past 11 years, he has created and improved more than 40 types of machines and equipment serving agricultural, forestry and handicraft production.

A common feature of all the products manufactured by Mr. Hat is that they are highly applicable in practice, cost much cheaper than similar machines and equipment on the market but are easy to use and more effective. Typical are some types of machines such as: "Seed planting robot", pesticide spraying, rice scooping, poultry vaccination, onion and garlic drying, fish cutting, bean sprout harvesting, corn and peanut planting combined with fertilization, harvesting... Many customers at home and abroad have not hesitated to travel far to his family to see and order. "We must create things that people need, not sell what we have. More importantly, those products must be suitable for all regions, different conditions, easy to use, and as cheap as possible. This has been a consistent viewpoint throughout my work from the beginning of my invention activities until now", Mr. Hat said.

“Seed-planting robot” is Mr. Hat’s most famous product. This device was created after he realized that his brother had to spend a lot of money hiring workers to sow vegetable seeds. In 2014, after more than 2 years of hard research, Mr. Hat successfully created the “Seed-planting robot”. Although it is called a robot, this machine does not use chips, relays or air compressors, but only has 1 motor, 1 fan, and a power consumption of only 200W. This product can replace 40 manual workers at the same time. This also explains why his “Seed-planting robot” is now present in 63 provinces and cities across the country and 15 countries around the world, including countries with developed science such as Israel, Korea, Japan, the US, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. There were years when Mr. Hat sold more than 200 products.

Mr. Vu Dinh Se in Dong Quang commune (Gia Loc) is the first customer to buy the "Seed-planting robot" invented by Mr. Hat to serve the production of vegetable seedlings on an area of ​​1.2 hectares. Over the past 10 years, this machine has been operating stably and effectively. "It only takes 15 minutes for the robot to sow seeds for a 30-meter-long vegetable bed, without having to spend money on hiring many workers. Previously, if done manually, it would normally take one person a day to sow a bed. Sowing with a robot helps the vegetable plants grow evenly, healthily, and with fewer pests and diseases," said Mr. Se.

Mr. Hat has just successfully created a "Seed-placing robot on a tray" based on upgrading the old generation "Seed-placing robot" version that has been stored for 10 years. The characteristic of this robot is that it operates entirely mechanically while the machines currently circulating in the domestic and international markets must use a 6,000W power source, nearly 20 chips, relays and air compressors. Test results show that the new "Seed-placing robot on a tray" only takes 6 seconds to sow the seeds on a tray with 84 holes, while the machines on the market take 12-15 seconds. The important thing is that the price of the new seed-placing robot invented by him is much cheaper than the existing products on the market, easy to operate and has higher accuracy during operation. Mr. Hat is waiting for a copyright to announce this new product.

However, what makes Mr. Hat most proud is that he has just successfully created a "Fire rescue device" for high-rise buildings after 5 years of continuous pursuit. Due to exclusive reasons, Mr. Hat cannot provide more information about the product but revealed that this is a "3 no" device, no need for electricity, no need for operators, no need for regular maintenance, very easy to use, safe and cheap. When a high-rise apartment building unfortunately has a fire, all residents, including the elderly and weak, can easily escape. Mr. Hat and his colleagues have tested this device 10 times and all have been successful. A large corporation has sent people to meet with him many times, wanting to buy the copyright, but Mr. Hat has not sold it yet. He wants to research and improve it further so that when applied in practice, it will ensure high feasibility. “It is heartbreaking to see many innocent people and many fire fighters lose their lives to the fire. Now that urbanization is increasing, apartment buildings and high-rise buildings are springing up close together, and fires can break out at any time. So I really hope this invention will help the community,” said Mr. Hat.

As a famous person in the field of scientific research, it is easy to understand why in recent years many delegations of lecturers and students from leading universities in Vietnam have sought out Mr. Hat to share and consult his experience in researching scientific products related to machinery and technology. Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Hat is willing to share his knowledge, because his point of view is "If giving is good for society, there is no need to think twice".

Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tu Ky district, Nguyen Cong Quang, said that in recent years, Mr. Hat has often accepted invitations to speak at training sessions to guide teachers and students in scientific research and the implementation of scientific and technical products. He actively supports the education sector in STEM educational experiences for students at the production workshop. Mr. Hat is someone who has influenced students in forming ideas, researching projects and products to participate in the Science and Technology Competition, the Provincial Youth and Children's Creativity Competition. Thanks to his support, the Department of Education and Training of Tu Ky district has continuously had products that won high prizes at the provincial level, and in the 2022-2023 school year, he was awarded a certificate of merit by the Provincial People's Committee. "Mr. Hat is a typical example, a person who inspires and inspires passion for creativity, overcoming difficulties, and determination to conquer goals to generations of students," Mr. Quang emphasized.
