During a surprise inspection of a snack factory in Hanoi, the working group discovered snacks dumped on the dirty, greasy floor, including rotten rat carcasses.
On January 7, the Hanoi City Food Safety Interdisciplinary Inspection Team No. 1 suddenly inspected the snack production workshop of Duc Vinh Food Technology and Trading Joint Stock Company (Duc Vinh Company), located at No. 2 Thanh Nien Street, La Phu Industrial Zone, Hoai Duc District, Hanoi.
Duc Vinh production facility produces snack products with foreign language labels, eye-catching colors and shapes.
The inspection team discovered that this facility had many food safety violations. The production area was arranged in a messy manner, not following the one-way rule, not separate zones, not closed. Snacks were dumped on the dirty, greasy floor. The frying pan had turned black. Workers did not have specialized protective equipment, using their bare hands to pick up packaged products.
The product additive mixing room is unhygienic. In the production workshop, dead rats were found and were emitting a foul smell.
The inspection team also took samples of the oil used to fry the chips for testing according to regulations, and at the same time requested the facility to temporarily suspend operations to immediately correct the above-mentioned problems; clean all facilities, equipment and tools; arrange the production area to ensure one-way flow, and separate functional areas.
The inspection team also requested the facility to conduct health checks for workers; not to use ingredients that do not ensure food safety; and to continue working to resolve the problems in the inspection report with the Steering Committee for Food Safety in Hoai Duc District, Hanoi.
