A delegation from North Korea's Rason City arrived in Russia's Primorsky Region on May 12 as Pyongyang and Moscow have been stepping up bilateral exchanges since the second half of 2012.
On May 12, a delegation from the Rason city government (North Korea), led by Chairman of the Rason People's Committee Sin Chang Il, arrived in Russia's Primorsky region by train.
Rason city is located in the northeast of North Korea, bordering China and Russia. The city is a transportation hub and has a railway system connecting to Khasan station in Primorsky region.
Russia and North Korea have increased bilateral exchanges since the second half of 2012. In September 2023, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited Russia and held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
Later, Director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei E. Naryshkin also visited Pyongyang from March 25-27.
The two sides held expert-level discussions, exchanging views on the current international and regional situation related to the Korean Peninsula and Russia.
