At least eight people were killed and 22 injured after a gas explosion in a house in the town of Petare, in Miranda state, east of the capital Caracas.

Venezuelan authorities said on August 13 that at least eight people were killed and 22 others injured after a gas explosion in a house in the town of Petare, in Miranda state, east of the capital Caracas.

On social network X, Miranda state Governor Hector Rodriguez said that among the dead were 2 children.

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment after rescue workers pulled them from the rubble.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan media reported the death toll as 11 people.

In initial information, Governor Rodriguez said the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
