As someone who was fortunate enough to participate in editing nearly 30 books by the General Secretary and books about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, I learned many valuable lessons and experiences. From those books, I recorded many profound words of advice from the General Secretary to cadres and party members in many professions.
Cadres and party members must cultivate and train themselves.
In many books, articles and speeches, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always pays attention to and gives advice to cadres and party members in many fields.
Regarding cadres and party members, the General Secretary said: "Every cadre, party member, civil servant, and public employee must cultivate and train themselves, regularly self-reflect, self-correct, self-admonish, stay away from material temptations and ambitions, avoid making the same mistakes so as not to get their hands dirty.".
To the National Assembly deputies, the General Secretary advised: “As representatives of the people, National Assembly deputies must constantly cultivate, practice, maintain moral qualities, improve their qualifications in all aspects, be close to and listen to the opinions of voters and people, and perform and best complete the tasks that voters and people trust and entrust.”
For staff doing inspection work “one must have the courage to fight, be truly fair, objective, upright, and above all, must be honest and clean. If one is not honest and clean, one cannot speak for others, cannot discipline others. Many people often compare cadres doing inspection work for the Party to the Bao Gong of today, must be true communists who have both the courage to fight and compassion, and often have to endure sacrifices for personal interests.”
He advised cadres working in organization and personnel "in addition to studying, improving their knowledge and working experience, they must regularly practice their moral qualities, be transparent, impartial and objective; boldly propose and dare to prevent wrongdoings; courageously protect the truth and justice; not be subject to any unhealthy pressure; not be tempted by material interests; not be influenced by personal, intimate, or impure relationships".
The General Secretary also said: “A prosecutor must have a pure heart, be proficient in his profession, perceive and evaluate matters accurately and objectively; must train himself to have a scientific, careful and modest working method. Only by being careful and modest can he be sober enough to perceive the truth correctly and gain the support and help of the people”. Then, “Cadres and civil servants of the Party's internal affairs sector must have the mettle and courage to protect what is right, resolutely fight against what is wrong; have qualifications, have a relatively comprehensive understanding, and grasp the viewpoints, policies and guidelines of the Party, the policies and laws of the State; have profound knowledge and experience in the fields of internal affairs, anti-corruption and judicial reform; especially must be honest and clean; must have clear ethics, be impartial; have a scientific working method, be firm and flexible at the right time; discipline, strict discipline, solidarity, high unity, excellent completion of tasks, worthy of the trust and love of cadres, party members and people".
Both pink and professional
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong called the cadres working in foreign affairs a special team: trustworthy in character, sensitive to the times, profound in strategy, clever in negotiation and delicate in behavior. Therefore, it is necessary to practice the style: careful thinking, flexible action, proficient skills; in terms of capacity, they must have professional qualifications, expertise and good foreign languages. Cadres working in foreign affairs must regularly practice steadfast political will and ideology, be absolutely loyal to the Party's ideals and the interests of the nation, be alert to the influence, temptation and enticement of hostile forces, proactively prevent "self-evolution", "self-transformation", and get caught up in corruption and negativity. Diplomats and foreign affairs activists must always remember that behind them is the Party, the State, the country and the people.
For leaders and managers, the General Secretary advised: “Leaders, especially heads of Party committees and units, must be exemplary, must reflect on themselves, fight against individualism; educate their families, wives, children, and relatives to maintain their qualities, not to do anything unethical or illegal”. For Vietnam Fatherland Front officials, the General Secretary advised: “Front officials must always remember that the people will only listen to and believe in them when they truly trust them, when the front officials are truly the most convincing examples. Therefore, each front official must constantly train himself, cultivate morality, and become a shining example for the people to love, care for, respect, and benefit from”.
For artists, the General Secretary wishes that each artist must always "renew themselves, have courage and alertness; have qualifications, vision, new ways of thinking and methods of expression in artistic creation"; must nurture "great aspirations", "noble ideals", "harmonize their heartbeat with the heartbeat of the entire nation, struggle with the rich and vibrant reality of people's lives" to contribute good works that move people's hearts and are necessary for the public and society"; "Stage artists must constantly cultivate both qualities and talents to contribute good works to the people and the country".
For reporters and editors, the General Secretary advised: “Each cadre, reporter, editor, and journalist must have high determination, a passion for the profession, be willing to study hard, and persevere in training to have both solid political qualities and good professional ethics, as well as sufficient qualifications and capacity to research, edit, and write articles”; need to “be careful in every sentence, every word”, and always focus on training the pen to have “a dignified and clear writing style; tight and clear arguments; sharp, accurate evidence, and high persuasiveness”.
The advice of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is very profound, reasonable and heartfelt for each of us.
