Green bean cake is part of the culinary culture of the Eastern people.

Hai Duong green bean cake - just hearing the name makes my heart flutter with emotions.

The cake is not only a dish but also a cultural symbol, associated with childhood memories and family stories. Those who have enjoyed Hai Duong green bean cake will certainly not be able to forget the delicate sweet taste of green beans, the fatty aroma of pork fat and sugar, all blending to create a sweet, gentle flavor.

Perhaps for many people, Hai Duong green bean cake is associated with the image of an elegant, luxurious gift. But for me, seeing the green bean cake, I feel like seeing again the sweetness, warmth of family affection, of the meticulous care my mother gave us.

I still remember clearly the first time my mother bought cakes for the whole family to enjoy. It was an early winter day, the weather was a bit chilly. My mother brought home a small but delicate box of green bean cakes. The square box was wrapped in a thin layer of cellophane, with prominent printed lines in red and yellow on the outside. I excitedly opened the box, carefully taking out each small, square, shiny yellow cake. When I bit into the cake, the soft, sweet feeling stayed with me forever.

In those years, green bean cakes were not as easy to find or popular as they are now. Green bean cakes were handmade, requiring the skill of the craftsman. Therefore, only on special occasions such as holidays, Tet or when the house had important guests, did my mother buy them to treat the guests.

As time passes, green bean cake is no longer a rare gift like before. But for me, the taste of Hai Duong green bean cake is still a memory, a memory of my childhood days being taken care of by my mother. Every time I hold a piece of green bean cake in my hand, I feel like I am back to the old days, where I had my mother, my family and afternoons gathering around a pot of tea and fragrant cake.

Since ancient times, green bean cakes have been famous everywhere, captivating many generations. The cakes are small, light, and unpretentious, but contain the essence of Vietnamese culinary art. It is the perfect combination of simple but quality ingredients and the skillful hands of the baker. Each green bean cake is a meticulous process from choosing ingredients, processing, to packaging, so that when it reaches the hands of the enjoyer, the cake still retains the sweet, rich flavor of green beans.

Nowadays, green bean cake shops all design more luxurious models and styles to serve the gift-giving needs. But no matter what, the taste of the cake remains unchanged. It is still the sweet and fatty taste, still the softness that melts in your mouth and still the warm feeling when enjoying each small piece of cake.

Even though I no longer live in my hometown, whenever I have the chance to visit home, I always buy a few boxes of Hai Duong green bean cakes to bring with me. That is how I keep a part of my childhood, keep the taste of memories that I will never forget.

Remembering the taste of green bean cake, I not only remember a dish, but also remember my hometown, the peaceful and happy years with my family. Looking at each small piece of green bean cake, I seem to see again the warm moments of my childhood, the happy days under the warm roof of a house with my mother. Even though I have gone through many ups and downs of time, the sweet taste of each green bean cake is always like a string connecting me to the beautiful memories of my hometown.
