Many universities extend tuition fees, support students in flood-affected areas

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economicshas just announced the "Support Scholarship" and "Tuition Payment Extension" programs to support students in the northern provinces affected by storm Yagi (storm No. 3).

The school offers 100 scholarships, each worth 10 million VND, to disadvantaged students with permanent residence in 26 northern localities directly affected by storm No. 3, including: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc and Thanh Hoa.

In addition, to reduce financial pressure on students from the 26 provinces and cities above and their families during the current difficult time, the school also extended the tuition payment deadline for the first semester of 2025 to January 15, 2025 instead of November 2024.

University of Economics and Law(Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that the school has supported 46 million VND for students whose families were affected by storms and floods.

Through screening, the school has identified 12 families of students who are severely affected by storm No. 3 and its circulation. The support of 46 million VND was sent to 12 students at the following levels: 2 million VND (7 students), 4 million VND (3 students), 10 million VND (2 students).

With the spirit of "no student is left behind",Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technologyhas allocated 500 million VND from the student support fund to help full-time university students whose families have been severely affected by storms and floods.

In addition, the school provided 2,000 free meals from socialized funding to support policy students at the canteen during the time Hanoi was heavily affected by storms and floods.

According to the first preliminary survey ofSchoolUniversity of Transport Technology, nearly 100 students of the school were affected by the storm and post-storm circulation, of which 20 students were in difficult circumstances. The Board of Directors decided to allocate the welfare fund to support these 20 students at the rate of 5 million VND/student.

The school is committed to continuing to thoroughly review and grasp the cases of students affected by natural disasters, floods, and families in difficult circumstances to deploy more support campaigns, ensuring that no student is left behind in the journey to overcome the consequences of the storm.

InSchoolHanoi University of Science and Technology, about 100 students shared information with the school about being affected by the storm. The Student Affairs Department and the Youth Union contacted each student to help arrange accommodation in the dormitory, lend laptops, and send food and drinks.

For students whose families are seriously affected, the lecturer will guide them to register for the Tran Dai Nghia scholarship. The scholarship has two levels, equivalent to 50% and 100% of tuition fees for one semester.

National Economics Universitydecided to support full-time students whose families suffered losses with a support level of 1 million VND/student. From September 11 to 20, students can register via the link provided by the school. After that, the school will transfer the support money to the student's account.

Foreign Trade Universityrecorded about 80 students whose families were isolated by floodwaters, property damage, and difficulty in traveling from home to school... To adjust to the students' circumstances, the school organized online learning and said it would provide financial support for those in difficult situations.

Meanwhile,TUniversity of Social Sciences and Humanities(Ho Chi Minh City National University) announced the cancellation of the opening ceremony on September 27. The school will use the opening ceremony budget of 100 million VND to support people in the flood-affected areas of the North.

Many other universities are also reviewing, making statistics and lists of students affected by storms and floods to come up with support plans, both academically and financially.
