In Hanoi, on the afternoon of the 28th of Tet, a large number of vehicles moving out of the city caused congestion on many gateway routes to the capital. On the Ring Road 3 section from Big C to Phap Van, heading out of the city, there was a traffic jam lasting several kilometers (estimated at about 10km).
Many vehicles entered the emergency lane, making traffic even more chaotic. The serious congestion on Ring Road 3 lasted until dawn on February 8 (the 29th day of Tet).
At Hanoi bus stations, although the number of passengers is quite large, about 12,000-15,000 people/day/station (an increase of about 300% compared to normal days), passengers do not have to wait too long, because the bus stations have proactively added more vehicles to serve people returning home for Tet.
At the two toll stations at the gateway to the capital on the Phap Van - Cau Gie and Hanoi - Hai Phong routes, the number of vehicles leaving the capital increased rapidly, but there was no congestion due to the stable operation of the non-stop toll stations and the presence of the functional forces.
At Noi Bai International Airport, the number of passengers increased, but the airport organized traffic flow to prevent congestion and increased human resources, so there was no overcrowding. On the morning of the 29th of Tet, on all inner-city routes as well as the gateways of the capital, vehicles moved easily, without congestion.
In Ho Chi Minh City, on the afternoon of the 28th of Tet, on the eastern and western gateways of the city, the number of people and vehicles increased, especially motorbikes, but there was no traffic jam. On this occasion, "nail bandits" were rampant on National Highway 1 towards the Mekong Delta.
On the inner city roads, traffic is clear and vehicles can move easily. At Saigon Station, the station's waiting area and the main hall of the ticket gate are crowded with people, but security and order are guaranteed.
At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the application of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology has helped shorten payment time, reduce congestion at the airport entrance/exit areas, and facilitate vehicle traffic. There is also no crowding in the airport area.
