In 11 months, more than 6,000 people died in traffic accidents

According to Tran Huu Minh, Chief of Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, in November 2023 (from October 15 to November 14), there were 1,950 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 885 people and injuring 1,515 people.

Compared to November 2022, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 136 cases (6.52%), the number of deaths decreased by 287 (24.49%), and the number of injuries increased by 77 (5.35%).

Of these, 1,942 road traffic accidents occurred, killing 879 people and injuring 1,515 people. Compared to the same period last year, there were 132 fewer accidents (6.36%), 282 fewer deaths (24.29%), and 80 more injuries (5.57%).

There were 4 railway accidents, killing 4 people and injuring no one. Compared to the same period last year, there were 4 fewer accidents (50%), 4 fewer deaths (50%), and 1 fewer injuries (100%).

There were 4 incidents on waterways, resulting in 2 deaths and no injuries, no change in the number of incidents compared to the same period last year but a decrease of 1 death (33.33%) and 2 injuries (100%). There were no accidents on maritime routes.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in November 2023, the agency received 28 mandatory safety reports, with 1 level B incident, 1 level C incident, and 5 level D incidents, an increase of 2 incidents compared to the same period in 2022. Two level C incidents are under investigation, while 4 incidents were caused by technical failures and 1 incident was caused by technical staff.

Thus, in the 11 months of 2023 (from December 15, 2022 to November 14, 2023), there were 11,776 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 6,381 people and injuring 8,488 people, an increase of 342 cases (2.99%), an increase of 854 injured people (11.19%) compared to the same period in 2022, but a decrease of 145 deaths (2.22%).

Of these, 11,655 road accidents occurred, killing 6,294 people and injuring 8,459 people, an increase of 347 accidents (3.07%), a decrease of 105 deaths (1.64%), and an increase of 850 injuries (11.17%) compared to the same period last year.

There were 88 railway accidents, killing 67 people and injuring 22 people, down 1 accident (1.12%), down 2 deaths (2.9%), up 2 injuries (10%) compared to the same period last year.

There were 28 waterway accidents, killing 18 people and injuring 7 people, a decrease of 3 accidents (9.68%), a decrease of 28 deaths (60.87%), and an increase of 2 injuries (40%) compared to the same period last year.

There were 5 maritime incidents, killing 2 people and injuring no one, down 1 incident (16.67%), down 10 deaths and missing people (83.33%) compared to the same period last year.
