10 people died in traffic accidents on the first day of New Year's holiday

Information from the Traffic Police Department on the afternoon of December 30 said that on the first day of the 3-day New Year holiday, there were 41 road traffic accidents nationwide, killing 10 people and injuring 40 others.

There were no traffic accidents on railways and waterways.

During the patrolling and handling of violations on the roads, the Traffic Police of local Public Security inspected, detected and handled 7,375 violations; imposed fines of VND 17.44 billion, temporarily detained 107 cars, 2,428 motorbikes, 67 other vehicles; and revoked 1,561 driving licenses of all types.

Of these, there were 1,819 cases of alcohol violations, 2 cases of drug violations, 1,567 cases of speeding violations, and 168 cases of vehicle body extensions, oversize, and overloading.

Through the monitoring system, the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Teams of the Traffic Police Department detected and handled 168 violations.

On waterways, the Waterway Police force of local Public Security inspected, detected and handled 135 violations, imposing fines of VND132 million. On railways, 5 violations were detected and handled, imposing fines of VND2 million.
