By May 20, the forest fire warning level increased to level IV, a dangerous level, with a high risk of large forest fires and rapid fire spread.

The Provincial Forest Protection Department requested the Forest Protection Department of Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town to advise the People's Committee of the city and town to request the police, military, forest rangers, forest owners and People's Committees of communes and wards to increase patrols and strictly inspect key areas prone to forest fires between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. every day. Especially the forest areas adjacent to historical sites to detect early and mobilize firefighting forces in time to minimize damage caused by forest fires. Ensure a 24/7 duty force, including holidays. Strictly prohibit activities of clearing vegetation and burning gardens. Prepare plans to mobilize forces and means to respond to forest fire situations according to the "4 on-site" motto.

According to the provincial hydrometeorological station, areas in the province are suffering from a heat wave, severe heat lasting from May 16-22, with peak temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius, and a high risk of forest fires.
