On October 17, the US Department of Commerce said it had issued an order denying export privileges to Russia's Ural Airlines on the grounds that the airline violated US export regulations.

Under the order, Ural Airlines will not be able to conduct transactions under US export regulations.

The US government has recently stepped up sanctions against Russian airlines, seeking to deny them access to spare parts, refueling and other services.

The US imposed sanctions on Russia after Moscow launched a special military operation in Ukraine in late February. So far, the US Department of Commerce has imposed 10 sanctions on the largest airlines in Russia and Belarus.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Canadian Government also announced the imposition of sanctions against more than 30 Russian individuals and entities that Ottawa said were involved in Moscow's special military campaign in Ukraine.

The Canadian sanctions list includes the Russian Defense Ministry's Zvezda TV channel and popular TV presenter Dmitry Viktorovich Guberniev.

The sanctions freeze all Canadian assets of those on the sanctions list and prohibit Canadian financial institutions from providing services to them.
