This is Mr Trump’s busiest campaign week since the winter, when he faced off against his Republican rivals in the party’s primary elections. He is expected to have a packed schedule of daily events in battleground states on topics Republicans believe will help them gain an advantage.

Specifically, Mr. Trump will be in Pennsylvania on August 19 to speak about the economy and energy. The next day, he will be in Michigan to share his views on crime and safety. National security will be mentioned in his speech when he and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, appear before supporters in North Carolina. The next day, he will travel to the southwestern border area in Arizona to talk about immigration before traveling to Arizona and Nevada on August 23.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party on August 19 began its four-day National Convention in Chicago, Midwest, with the highlight being the appearance of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. More than 4,000 delegates attending the Democratic National Convention will officially confirm Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's presidential candidate for the White House on November 5. The confirmation is largely a formality after Kamala Harris received the support of 99% of the 4,567 delegates who participated in the Democratic Party's online vote earlier this month.

New polls show Kamala Harris making big gains in key battleground states ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Some polls show Harris outperforming President Joe Biden in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, though most still show her within touching distance of Donald Trump.

Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania are the three states that helped Donald Trump win the 2016 presidential election. In the 2020 election, Joe Biden, who was born in Pennsylvania, brought these states back to the Democratic Party.

Statistics show that since 2008, whichever candidate wins in the above 3 states has won the race to the White House.
