A woman in Chi Linh defrauded people selling shoes online, appropriating 809 million VND.

On January 30, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Sach District Police issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, prosecute the defendant Nguyen Thi Nga for fraud and property appropriation, and continue to collect documents and evidence to handle the gambling behavior.

On January 23, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Sach District Police received a criminal complaint from Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thai (born in 1990, residing in Tay Hoa village, Vu Ninh commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province) about being scammed out of 809 million VND by a subject with the Facebook account "Phuong Nga".

After receiving the report, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Sach District Police urgently verified and identified the suspect with the Facebook account "Phuong Nga" as Nguyen Thi Nga (born in 2003, residing in Kenh Mai 1 residential area, Van Duc ward, Chi Linh city).

When Nga was summoned for questioning, she initially gave a evasive statement. However, with the full evidence collected by the Investigation Police Agency, Nga confessed to all her crimes.

In June 2023, Nga was lured and enticed by some people to participate in online gambling. At first, the people let Nga win hundreds of millions of dong, making Nga continue to gamble. After that, Nga lost continuously. The total amount of money Nga lost while gambling was nearly 2 billion dong.

Needing money to recover her gambling losses, Nga posted information and pictures about the possibility of buying large quantities of used sports shoes of famous brands at cheap prices on her personal Facebook page to defraud and appropriate money from buyers.

On January 4, 2024, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thai contacted Nga via Facebook to order shoes for resale. The first time, Nga asked Mr. Thai to deposit 10 million VND. After that, Nga provided a lot of false information, asked Mr. Thai to transfer more deposit money, and lent Nga money to handle the shipment. To gain Mr. Thai's trust, Nga also used someone else's phone to change her Zalo account to "Ms. Ngoc transports Viet Trung" to text Mr. Thai according to the content Nga had prepared in advance. Because of his trust in Nga, from January 4 to 21, 2024, Mr. Thai transferred a total of 809 million VND to Nga. All of the above money was appropriated by Nga for gambling and personal expenses.
