As planned, the new upgraded version of Mazda BT-50 will be launched in the Australian market on October 18. With a series of changes in design and technology, Mazda's mid-size pickup truck promises to be able to compete with rivals such as Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux or Mitsubishi Triton.

The current-generation Mazda BT-50 has been around since 2020 and has been given a minor facelift this year. However, the 2025 BT-50 is set to be a complete overhaul, not just a few subtle changes.

The 6-second video reveals some changes to the front of the car with headlights reminiscent of the Mazda CX-5. In addition, the grille of this pickup model may also be redesigned and it seems that the Mazda logo on the grille will be larger than usual.

Besides the refreshed exterior, the 2025 Mazda BT-50 is expected to get some feature upgrades, including a tweaked interface, more technology as the BT-50 is essentially a redesigned Isuzu D-Max.

It is likely that the new Mazda BT-50 will inherit the Isuzu D-Max's 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a button system below the 9-inch entertainment screen, an additional USB Type C port, remote start, and some advanced driving assistance features. The new car may also have Isuzu's Rough Terrain Mode, which helps improve traction in difficult terrain conditions.

Under the hood, in addition to the 148hp 1.9L diesel engine already available, many are expecting a more powerful 187hp 3.0L diesel option. The above engines are combined with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels or all four wheels depending on the version.

The Mazda BT-50 is Mazda’s second best-selling vehicle in Australia, behind only the CX-5. However, the pickup truck was soon discontinued in New Zealand, South Africa and Vietnam after struggling to attract buyers.
