Man City shockingly lost to Bournemouth and let the top spot in the Premier League fall into the hands of Liverpool.
After a period of continuous competition, the Man City stars showed obvious fatigue during the trip to Bournemouth in round 10 of the 2024/2025 Premier League. In the first minutes of the match, coach Pep Guardiola's players continuously made mistakes, even losing the ball in their own half, creating conditions for Bournemouth to counterattack.
In the 9th minute, Semenyo opened the score for Bournemouth from Kerkez's assist on the left wing as was inevitable in the early minutes of the game.
After conceding the goal, Man City rose strongly. The notable attacks created by the defending champions mainly came from the individual efforts of Haaland, Nunes and Bernardo Silva. However, the Bounemouth defense played with concentration to neutralize all threats to the home team's goal.
In the second half, Man City stepped up their attacks but Foden and Haaland were too unlucky. Meanwhile, the home team took advantage of their opportunity in the 64th minute. Evalnilson finished the quick counter-attack with an accurate kick after a pass from Kerkez, leaving Ederson standing and watching.
It wasn't until the last 15 minutes of the match that Man City really picked up the pace. After much effort, the visitors got their first equalizer in the 82nd minute thanks to Gvardiol. However, that was all they could muster in the match. Losing 1-2, Man City officially lost the top spot to Liverpool.
In other notable matches in Europe's top leagues, Bayern Munich beat Union Berlin 3-0, Borussia Dortmund defeated Leipzig 2-1, PSG beat Lens 1-0, Udinese lost 0-2 to Juventus and AC Milan beat Monza 1-0.
