According to a representative of Huu Binh Company Limited (Hai Duong City), from September 24 to September 29 (ie August 10 to August 15 of the lunar calendar), each day the company's stores had more than 100 customers coming to buy moon cakes. Some confectionery stores in Hai Duong City said that the number of customers buying moon cakes fluctuated from 15 to 20 people. This number of customers decreased by about 30% compared to last year's Mid-Autumn Festival. Customer demand focused mainly on cakes priced from 60,000 to 80,000 VND/piece.

The reason is said to be because this year the economy is difficult, people are tightening their spending, many businesses are cutting down on gifts for partners... High-end cakes (priced from 400,000 VND or more/box) are not consumed as much as in previous years.
The rainy weather in the days leading up to the Mid-Autumn Festival also affected consumers’ purchasing power. This year, the price of mooncakes increased slightly by 2-3% compared to last year, commonly from 60,000-80,000 VND/piece.
