New car series about to be launched to Vietnamese customers

New generation models, slightly upgraded or sold for the first time in Vietnam will stir up the Vietnamese automobile market in the rest of 2024. These models are mostly imported, ranging from sedan to SUV segments.

Mitsubishi Triton

In September, the new generation of Mitsubishi Triton will be introduced to Vietnamese customers. The car is still imported from Thailand and dealers are accepting deposits.

The new Triton has a completely new design inside and out. The exterior design is more aggressive and muscular than the previous generation. The chassis and suspension system have been upgraded with the ADAS active safety package.

Mitsubishi Triton is equipped with a new 2.4 turbocharged diesel engine with 3 performance levels. The lowest version is strong with 148 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 330 Nm of torque at 1,500-3,000 rpm. The mid-range version is strong with 184 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The highest version is strong with 201 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 470 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,750 Nm. It is not yet clear which version the Japanese company will distribute in Vietnam.

Hyundai Santa Fe

The new generation Santa Fe is expected to hit the market in September or October. The D-size unibody SUV will continue to be assembled by the Hyundai Thanh Cong joint venture at its factory in Ninh Binh. The engine configuration and specific equipment for the Vietnamese market are currently unknown.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe has no connection with its predecessor in terms of overall design. The exterior of the Santa Fe is square and boxy. Inside, the design style is compared to the luxury Range Rover because of many similarities.

In international markets, Santa Fe offers a variety of engine options such as: 2.5 turbocharged with 281 horsepower, 8-speed dual-clutch transmission; 1.6 hybrid turbocharged with 180 horsepower, 6-speed automatic transmission. Or 2.5 naturally aspirated with 194 horsepower, 8-speed automatic transmission. All are gasoline engines.

Honda Civic hybrid

Honda's C-segment sedan will have a hybrid variant called e:HEV RS, expected to debut at the Vietnam Auto Show 2024 in October. Honda Civic is imported from Thailand and is currently being accepted by dealers.

Compared to the existing versions in Vietnam, the Honda Civic hybrid has a slightly changed front grille, but the interior is similar. The interior equipment is slightly upgraded with a 12-speaker Bose sound system. The Honda Sensing safety system is standard equipment on the new Civic.

The Civic e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0 gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, producing 200 horsepower. This is the same engine on the CR-V hybrid sold in Vietnam from October 2023. The engine comes with a CVT gearbox.

Subaru Crosstrek

Also in October, the Japanese-imported Subaru Crosstrek will be launched to Vietnamese customers. This is the return of Subaru's B+ CUV model (on sale in 2016), participating in the most vibrant growing segment of the market. Subaru's model is a potential competitor of the Toyota Corolla Cross.

Currently, the Crosstrek's equipment and engine configuration in Vietnam are not available. In Japan, the car is sold in two versions: Touring and Limited, priced from 18,120 USD. From this generation, in addition to the familiar AWD all-wheel drive system, Subaru for the first time added the FWD front-wheel drive option with a more accessible price.

Subaru Crosstrek versions in Japan are equipped with a 2.0 Boxer hybrid engine. This engine combines a 2.0 gasoline engine with a capacity of 145 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 188 Nm at 4,000 rpm and a 13.6 horsepower motor, torque of 65 Nm. CVT transmission.
