Many notable car models are scheduled to be launched or renewed in the Vietnamese market next July. In addition to Japanese and American cars, Chinese cars will continue to appear.
Ford Transit 2024
Ford Vietnam has confirmed that it will introduce the 16-seat Ford Transit 2024 to Vietnamese customers on July 5. Previously, many Ford dealers began accepting deposits for this 16-seat model.
In the new generation, Ford Transit still has a familiar appearance, but has been renewed with some details such as the front lights, large radiator grille with chrome details. In particular, the LED positioning lights are shaped like the letter C similar to Everest and Ranger.
According to some sources, Transit 2024 will have 2 versions: manual transmission using 2.0L engine and automatic transmission using 2.3L engine. The expected selling price is 889-899 million VND for manual transmission and 949 million VND for automatic transmission. Meanwhile, Transit in Vietnam is currently listed at 849 million VND for a single version using 2.2L Turbo Diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission.
In Vietnam, Ford Transit is still the best-selling 16-seat vehicle on the market. Specifically, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), 1,951 Transit vehicles were sold in the first 5 months of 2024.
Wuling Bingo EV
In recent days, images of Wuling Bingo cars taken at the TMT Motors factory in Hung Yen have been widely shared on social networks, showing that the launch date of this Chinese electric car is not far away. Accordingly, Wuling Bingo may officially launch around mid-July.
In the Chinese market, Wuling Bingo is one of the three best-selling small electric cars. This model has a 5-door hatchback design, with dimensions of length x width x height of 3,950 x 1,708 x 1,580 (mm) and a wheelbase of 2,560mm. Bingo has two versions with the main difference being the battery block. Of which, the version using a 31.9kWh battery can travel about 333km after each charge and the higher version with a 37.9kWh battery can travel about 410km.
In Vietnam, Wuling Bingo is classified in the B-SUV segment and will compete directly with VinFast VF 5. Currently, there is no information about the selling price of this model in Vietnam, but according to experts' assessments as well as price references from some neighboring countries, this small electric car will cost around 500 million VND.
Haval Jolion
Another Chinese-origin car model that is about to arrive in Vietnam in the near future is the Haval Jolion. According to some sources, this B-SUV model will also be launched in the Vietnamese market in July and can be delivered to customers by the end of 2024. Many Haval dealers have been accepting deposits since April with an estimated price of about 700 million VND.
Like its predecessor Haval H6, which was brought to the country in 2023, Jolion is also equipped with a hybrid engine consisting of a 1.5L gasoline engine combined with a 130kW electric motor for 190 horsepower, maximum torque of 375Nm and comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Jolion 2024 has overall dimensions of length x width x height of 4,472 x 1,841 x 1,574 (mm) and a wheelbase of 2,700mm and will compete in an extremely crowded segment of B-SUV, with very strong competitors dominating the market such as Toyota Corolla Cross, Yaris Cross, Hyundai Creta, KIA Seltos or "newcomer" Mitsubishi Xforce,...
Suzuki XL7 hybrid
With the quiet withdrawal of Ertiga Hybrid, Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki has focused all its resources on the 7-seat XL7 model in the Vietnamese market. Some Suzuki sales consultants said that the hybrid version of XL7 is expected to be introduced around the end of July or August and many dealers have started accepting deposits for this model.
Suzuki XL7 will continue to be imported from Indonesia, however, the selling price of Suzuki XL7 Hybrid in Vietnam is still open. It is likely that this model will increase slightly compared to the old version because it is integrated with a mild hybrid engine similar to Ertiga Hybrid. Currently, Suzuki XL7 has 3 versions in Vietnam, including GLX, GLX (leather seats) and Sport Limited with listed prices of 599.9 million VND, 609.9 million VND and 639.9 million VND respectively.
The XL7 is Suzuki's best-selling car in Vietnam. According to VAMA, 1,752 XL7s were sold in the first 5 months of 2024. However, the XL7 is still inferior to its domestic competitors in the small MPV segment such as the Mitsubishi Xpander or Toyota Veloz Cross.
