On the afternoon of November 12, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province to hold a press conference for the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival taking place in Da Lat city from November 21 to 25.
The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival is a national cultural and artistic event to honor cinematographic works and artists in cinematographic creation. In addition to the two main programs, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, this Film Festival also has many programs and activities such as the Exhibition "Da Lat - Inspiring Cinema" on November 21; seminars related to the Vietnamese film industry on November 22-23; exchange programs between film artists and audiences on November 22 and 23 at Da Lat University and Lam Dong Ethnic Boarding High School.
In particular, during the duration of this film festival, the Organizing Committee will screen 91 films from the Competition Film Program and 56 films from the Panorama Film Program for free for people and tourists to enjoy at cinemas in Da Lat city and Duc Trong district. Among them are many Vietnamese blockbusters such as Dat Rung Phuong Nam, Nha Ba Nu, Em Va Trinh, Nguoi Vo Cuoi Trung, Ke An Danh, Tro Tan Ruc Ro, Con Nhót Mot Chong... In addition to free screenings, the films participating in this film festival will be screened on the move in localities, remote areas in Lam Dong province.
According to Mr. Pham S, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, preparations for the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival have been basically completed. The locality has fully and thoroughly prepared infrastructure, ensured security and order, food safety and hygiene, and requested airlines to increase flights... to serve tourists as well as film crews and artists participating in this Film Festival. It is expected that during the week of the event, Da Lat - Lam Dong will welcome about 190,000 visitors to visit and enjoy the works of the competition.
The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival has 91 works selected for the Competition Program including 16 feature films, 31 documentaries, 19 scientific films, 25 animated films; the Panorama Film Program has 56 selected films including 14 feature films, 20 documentaries, 4 scientific films, 18 animated films. For the entries, the Organizing Committee will award the Golden Lotus, Silver Lotus, Jury awards for the categories of feature films, documentaries, scientific films, animated films and the Outstanding Cinematography Award for 1 film. For individuals, the Organizing Committee will award the Outstanding Director, Outstanding Screenplay, Outstanding Debut Feature Film Director, Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Actress, Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actress, Outstanding Supporting Actor, Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Sound. In addition, the Film Festival also has an audience vote award for the "Most Favorite Film" (for films participating in the Panorama Film Program), and awards from agencies and social organizations.
The opening ceremony of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival will take place at Lam Vien Square (Da Lat city) on the evening of November 21 and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
