Vietnamese units signed 16 contracts with a total value of about 286.3 million USD at the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.
On the afternoon of December 22, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a conference to summarize and commend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.
Attending the conference were Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Exhibition Steering Committee; Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Exhibition Organizing Committee; leaders of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and a number of agencies and units.
Taking place from December 19-23 at Gia Lam Airport on a total planned area of about 100,000 m2, the exhibition will feature 242 defense industry enterprises and related domestic and international enterprises.
There are more than 440 indoor and outdoor booths displaying a variety of products, such as: fighter jets, transport aircraft; helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, drones, ships, artillery systems, radars, guns, ammunition, electronic warfare equipment, simulations, communications, optoelectronics, command and control systems, etc.; economic - defense products, technology, digital transformation results, safety, network security, national brand products, regional specialty products, traditional craft villages.
According to Major General Le Quang Tuyen, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, the Organizing Committee displayed 68 types of weapons in service of the Vietnam People's Army on an area of 10,530 square meters, of which two products were the VCM-B anti-ship missile complex and a type of ammunition under Project A1.
Regarding domestically produced defense, logistics, and technical industrial products, the total number of Vietnamese defense industry weapons and technical equipment on display includes 464 products (an increase of 155 products compared to 2022).
There is also an area displaying achievements in building the people's armed forces and building a national defense with an area of 8,200 m2; an area introducing Vietnamese cultural space.
With the application of advanced technology applied for the first time in display, introduction and exhibition forms, it has attracted a large number of customers and people to visit and learn. The areas displaying achievements, cultural and culinary spaces, VIP reception areas, Organizing Committee areas, seminars, meeting rooms and auxiliary areas are organized with quality, achieving the set goals and requirements.
As of 12:00 on December 22, the exhibition had welcomed more than 260,000 visits from the public and professional visitors.
The exhibition organizers distributed more than 60,000 bottles of water and dry food to visitors for free and prepared carefully, forecasting the situation closely. The flexible and smooth operation and coordination between departments ensured security and safety in all aspects.
Within the framework of the exhibition, businesses across the army took advantage of the opportunity to exchange and work with foreign companies and businesses.
The Organizing Committee has ensured 1,872 bilateral meetings and working sessions for military agencies, units and enterprises to listen to product introductions and discuss areas of interest. On that basis, a number of potential areas of cooperation have been discussed by the two sides.
Vietnam's defense industry has received many orders from foreign partners requesting to supply defense industry products, such as: infantry guns; submunitions, mortars, artillery shells; economic ships; propellants and explosives used in defense and civilian fields; other economic products...
Units of the General Department of Defense Industry and the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) signed 16 contracts with a total value of about 286.3 million USD; signed 17 strategic cooperation agreements between Vietnam's defense industry and enterprises of countries with developed industries such as the US, India, France, Belgium, etc.
In addition to the main exhibition activities, thematic seminars took place over 4 days.
From December 19-22, agencies and units mobilized nearly 10,000 officers, soldiers, and militia; organized 215 teams, checkpoints to guide traffic, patrol and guard; installed nearly 200 surveillance cameras in the entire area, 20 UAV suppression positions...
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 was a great success, with all criteria and fields far exceeding the set goals and requirements. The exhibition contributed to affirming the correct foreign policy of our Party and State.
Through the exhibition, visitors have more understanding about the national defense industry, thereby having more confidence in the development of Vietnam's defense industry and the strength of our army.
At the same time, raise awareness, responsibility, duty, pride of each cadre and soldier and solidarity with the people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The exhibition also received positive feedback and high appreciation from central and local ministries, departments and branches.
