Kinh Mon innovates summer activities

Hiep An Ward Chess Club attracts children to study and play

To overcome the situation of not being able to attract the maximum number of union members and young people to participate in summer activities, this year, right before the end of the school year, Kinh Mon City Youth Union has developed a plan and proposed innovative solutions to mobilize a large number of students to participate.

Over the past week, the atmosphere of summer activities in Kinh Mon has been quite exciting. This is also the expectation of union members and young people after two years of limited activities due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. 100% of union bases have organized "Summer Festival" with many attractive programs. Up to now, the whole town has had more than 5,000 union members and young people participating in summer activities in 112 village and residential area union branches. The whole town mobilized 1,120 union members and young people to volunteer to support the campaigns. Teenagers and children proactively choose suitable subjects according to their interests and talents to register to participate such as: football, chess, dancing, painting, swimming. From 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, children will gather at village cultural houses and residential areas to participate in group singing and dancing activities, team parades, and weekend playgrounds. In addition, the children are regularly taught about the Law on Children, skills to prevent injuries, abuse, and protect the environment by the team leaders.

Do Huong Duyen, class 7A, Pham Thai Secondary School said: “I am very happy to participate in summer activities at the end of each school year. Through each summer, I am able to practice communication skills, health, and learn about Youth Union and Young Pioneer activities. I feel more mature.”

Summer activities organized by the Youth Union are diverse and rich, doing a good job of socialization to create a playground, useful, and a good impression of "Pink Vacation" for union members and young people. Mr. Hoang Van Hieu, Secretary of the Hiep An Ward Youth Union shared: "To kick off the summer vacation, we launched the campaign, established the U10 football team, 2 swimming clubs, art, music, and chess clubs. Up to now, the locality has had 215 union members and young people participating in summer activities. We will coordinate with schools to closely manage the number of students participating in summer activities in the locality, such as establishing a Zalo group for parents in each residential area, and daily providing information about the content of the activities".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in That Hung ward said: "My family has two children, 12 and 15 years old. During the summer vacation, my family creates conditions for the two children to participate in summer activities, both to avoid too much exposure to television and phones, and to practice life skills for the children. I believe that the youth union of the area will do this well. I am very interested and supportive."

Ms. Hoang Thi Hang, Secretary of Kinh Mon Town Youth Union, said that the town's summer activity plan focuses on 5 outstanding campaigns: exam season support, green summer, red phoenix flowers, pink vacation and green march. Each campaign has specific content, participants, and time, creating favorable conditions for grassroots unions to base on local realities and apply creatively. Summer activities and the 2022 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign in the town are being organized in a practical manner, creating a healthy and safe playground for children and teenagers.
