Kia recalls nearly 140,000 Soul and Seltos SUVs due to piston oil defect

Kia has just announced a recall of 2021 - 2023 Soul and Seltos models in the US. The number of vehicles in this recall is 137,256.

According to Reuters, the reason for the recall is that some piston oil rings may have been manufactured incorrectly. This defect can lead to serious engine damage and expensive repairs.

Customers using the above two models can check to see if their vehicle is included in this recall by signs such as excessive smoke, reduced engine power, and difficulty starting the vehicle.

Customers can take their vehicle to Kia dealers for an engine check and replacement if necessary. The vehicle will be updated with the piston ring noise sensor system software. The entire repair process is completely free of charge.

Kia will send formal notices to affected vehicle owners. It is important that owners respond and follow Kia’s instructions for repairs.
