On October 4, the Investigation Police Agency of Long An Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Nguyen Thanh Son (34 years old, permanent resident of Nhi Thanh Commune, Thu Thua District) for the crime of kidnapping for the purpose of appropriating property as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 169 of the 2015 Penal Code.

Previously, suspect Nguyen Thanh Son was arrested by police in Dong Nai province on the evening of October 2 for kidnapping a child and was transferred to Long An province police for further verification and investigation according to authority.

As reported, at around 4:30 p.m. on October 2, Long An Provincial Police received information about a child kidnapping in Tan An City. The family said the kidnapper was an acquaintance and demanded a ransom of 2 billion VND.

Determining the seriousness of the incident, Colonel Lam Minh Hong, Director of Long An Provincial Police, and Colonel Pham Thanh Tam, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, directly met with the victim's family to understand the situation and reassure the family.

Exactly 6 hours after receiving information about the case, the police force stopped and arrested the suspect while he was on a PT bus going to Lam Dong.

Working with the police, Son confessed that he knew the girl's father and that he was in debt, so he had the idea of kidnapping the girl for ransom.

Accordingly, at around 3:30 p.m. on October 2, Son hired a tourist car driver to take him to the kindergarten in Kien Phat residential area, Ward 6, Tan An City to pick up two children, including Son's son and a girl named LMC (3 years old).

Instead of taking LMC home in Ward 2, Tan An City, Son took LMC to Hamlet 6, Nhi Thanh Commune, Thu Thua District (Long An Province). Upon arrival, Son took the boy into the house and then returned to tell the tour driver that he would continue to Ho Chi Minh City to take LMC to the Zoo and Botanical Garden and would return the next afternoon.

At 4:30 p.m., after the driver took him to the Zoo (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), Son made an appointment with the driver to pick him up at the same location the next afternoon and then paid in full for the two trips.

Son then took the girl to a hotel in An Phu ward, Thu Duc city (Ho Chi Minh city) and texted the 3-year-old girl's family to request that 2 billion VND be transferred immediately to their account. If the money was not transferred to him immediately, the girl's life could be in danger.

Fearing that their daughter's life was in danger, the victim's family went everywhere and transferred 1 billion VND to the subject many times.

After receiving 1 billion VND, the suspect left the girl at the hotel and took a bus to Da Lat but was arrested.

During the night, the police came to the hotel and took the child back to reunite with his family.
