In the 2023 winter-spring crop, the Institute of Agricultural Biology (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) planted 7 hectares of Bliss potatoes in Tieu Lam village (Ngu Hung commune).
According to the institute's assessment, although the experimental planting density was different, 100% of the potato seeds sprouted and achieved uniformity. After 70 days of planting, Bliss potatoes grew and developed well, while the control variety, Marabel potatoes, was average. This variety was almost immune to downy mildew and slightly infected with viruses, while the control variety was slightly infected with downy mildew and heavily infected with viruses.
The Institute also tested different fertilizer formulas in different proportions but there was not much difference in plant growth and development...
Initially, the Institute of Agricultural Biology assessed that Bliss potatoes are suitable for local climate and soil conditions. The care process is easy and suitable for farmers. The unit will continue to monitor to evaluate the yield and market price when the potatoes are ready for harvest.
That is the result of the field workshop on the topic "Application of technical advances in the production of Bliss potatoes towards linking product consumption in Hai Duong province" organized by the Institute of Agricultural Biology on the afternoon of January 19, in Ngu Hung commune.
Bliss potato is an imported variety, with a growing period of 90 - 100 days, with an average yield of 20 tons/ha.
