The Legend of Cu Lan Village
According to the people living here, there are currently many explanations for this unique name. However, the locals popularly spread the legend of Cu Lan village associated with a young man.
Once upon a time, a young man from the plains went up to the mountains with the dream of picking up stones to build a paradise in the middle of the vast forest to give to the girl he loved. His dream of “picking up stones to mend the sky” and his seemingly “different” way of doing things made people call him Cu Lan.
The rumor about the boy Cu Lan picking up stones to build a house reached the ears of the girl he loved. That girl left the city and went into the forest. Touched by the boy's sincere love, the girl stayed in the deep forest with him.
Although they did not build the paradise they dreamed of, together they built a small village by the stream surrounded by hills and mountains. From then on, people named the village Cu Lan village.
