Effective exploitation of Hai Duong health sector data warehouse

One of the main functions of the healthcare data warehouse system is to manage public and private medical examination and treatment facilities, pharmaceutical businesses and manage medical examination and treatment records.

On this database, users can monitor the medical examination and treatment situation by medical facility, look up information on the number of emergency and medical examinations; the number of hospitalized and discharged patients; the number of inpatient and outpatient examinations; the number of records with health insurance and statistics on medical examination and treatment costs.

To have this lookup information, data at medical facilities in the province is regularly updated to the health sector data warehouse. Mr. Nguyen Van Thin, information technology officer of Gia Loc District Medical Center said: "Every day, about 400 medical examination and treatment records are automatically updated to the data warehouse through the health insurance medical examination and treatment data reception portal, so I do not have to wait until the end of the day to manually send data."

This data warehouse system also manages medical personnel, monitors the issuance of medical and pharmaceutical practice certificates; manages medical facilities and equipment; manages drug lists, medical supplies, and technical lists. Specialized data such as preventive medicine, population, and food safety and hygiene are also collected in the data warehouse.

As of mid-March 2024, there were 374 medical examination and treatment facilities, 5,485 medical practitioners, 1,781 pharmaceutical practitioners, 977 pharmaceutical businesses, 2,919 equipment catalogs and about 2 million medical examination and treatment records... updated on the Hai Duong health sector data warehouse system.

Data Enrichment

Director of Hai Duong Department of Health Tran Quang Canh said that the health sector data warehouse is the intellectual property of the sector, developed by VNPT Hai Duong, and put into use from the end of 2023. Based on reports and analysis in the data warehouse system, it helps the health sector make policy plans, supplement facilities and human resources, improve the quality of medical examination and treatment and health care for people. In particular, in the coming time, the unit will apply AI in managing people's health records to forecast, advise, and prevent early some diseases that may occur.

Mr. Tran Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of VNPT Hai Duong Business Center, said that Hai Duong Department of Health is one of the first units in the country to build a health sector data warehouse system. To maximize the efficiency in managing and exploiting this data warehouse, VNPT Hai Duong will continue to work closely with the provincial health sector to optimize functions and tasks, supplement, upgrade and perfect the system. At the same time, it will guide health units to operate the data warehouse well and regularly collect and enrich digital health data sources.
