On July 1, the Chairman of Gia Loc District People's Committee issued a decision to administratively fine Mr. Dao Van Nhat Tung in Zone 5, Ke Sat Town (Binh Giang, Hai Duong) VND 85.5 million for illegal sand mining.
At about 8:00 p.m. on April 19, in the Kim Son River area (Ke Sat River) in Hung Long village, Yet Kieu commune (Gia Loc), Mr. Dao Van Nhat Tung in zone 5, Ke Sat town (Binh Giang) exploited sand and gravel from the riverbed with a volume of 22.3 m3 without a mineral exploitation license from a competent state agency.
Mr. Tung did not have a vehicle registration certificate as prescribed; did not have a technical safety and environmental protection certificate for the vehicle... Accepted and employed crew members to work on the boat but did not have a certificate of ability or professional certificate as prescribed...
In addition to the fine, Mr. Tung was forced to renovate and restore the environment; implement solutions to bring exploited areas to a safe state; compensate and pay for the cost of overcoming and repairing damage to dike works, other technical infrastructure works, and civil works caused by the violation.
