On the evening of May 25, the first Southeast Asian - Vietnamese Cultural and Culinary Festival 2023 opened at Hoa Lu Sports Center, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

The event was organized by the Institute for Research on the Development and Preservation of Southeast Asian Arts and Culture (IRSAC) in coordination with a number of organizations.
The festival attracted the participation of domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, tourism businesses, food processing establishments..., displaying more than 200 booths. The participating units introduced and served many traditional and modern dishes; food products, specialty foods... selected from many localities across the country and some countries in the Southeast Asian region.

According to Mr. Le Van Tiep, Director of IRSAC, the first Southeast Asian - Vietnam Cultural and Culinary Festival in 2023 is one of a series of events to realize the goals of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Plan to 2025, to strengthen ASEAN identity, towards the 56th anniversary of ASEAN's founding (August 8, 1967 - August 8, 2023). This is also an event to introduce cultural characteristics in the culinary life of the country, people and arts of the ASEAN community to the Vietnamese public as well as international friends. Through this event, the ASEAN community, including Vietnam, will further enhance understanding, friendship, connectivity and good cooperation among member countries.
Within the framework of the Festival, from now until May 28, two seminars on preserving and promoting the values of Vietnamese culinary culture and on guiding businesses in registering exclusive trademarks, product labels and product quality will be held...
According to some experts, culinary culture festivals always have great significance in promoting the image of Vietnamese culture and cuisine.
