Diverse activities at the Dak Lak Ethnic Culture Festival

Dak Lak Ethnic Culture Festival 2023 takes place from November 18-20 in Buon Ma Thuot city.

This is a big festival of 49 ethnic groups living, working, studying and working in the province. With the theme "Colourful Convergence", the festival will take place with many exciting activities.

The main activities of the Festival include: Re-enacting the wedding ceremony of the Ede people; performing typical and traditional cultural and artistic features of the ethnic groups; displaying and introducing typical and outstanding cultural and tourism products; introducing and promoting tourism programs and products; processing and introducing traditional dishes and drinks of the ethnic groups.

In addition, the Festival Organizing Committee also organized folk games; displayed art photos on the theme of elephants; held a workshop on "Preserving and promoting national intangible cultural heritage: Longevity celebration of the M'nong people"; and demonstrated open-air pottery making.

In addition, within the framework of the Festival, Dak Lak Provincial Library organizes an exhibition of documents on Dak Lak culture. The Film Distribution and Screening Center organizes free film screenings on revolutionary topics, historical sites, etc. during the Festival days.

According to Mr. Lai Duc Dai, the Dak Lak Ethnic Culture Festival in 2023 aims to contribute to preserving and promoting the unique traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups, strengthening the spirit of national solidarity in the process of integration and development. At the same time, through the Festival, it aims to introduce, promote and honor the cultural values ​​of 49 ethnic groups in the province to domestic and international friends, contributing to the development of tourism based on the strength of ethnic cultural identity. This is an opportunity for the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to objectively assess the current status of cultural and artistic activities, tourism, physical training, mass sports and cultural life in the area, thereby identifying long-term and breakthrough solutions to build spiritual and cultural life at the grassroots level.

Mr. Lai Duc Dai added that this is the first time the Festival has taken place, so the ethnic people in the province are very excited, making efforts to practice, prepare performances and cuisine to participate in the Festival. Up to now, the preparation work for the Festival has been basically completed. The message of the Festival is to affirm the spirit of solidarity of the ethnic groups in the province, to strive to preserve culture and join hands to build Dak Lak to be more civilized, rich and beautiful, with identity.

The new point of the Festival is the activities that create conditions for people to directly participate, connect, express, learn and exchange culture. In particular, the highlight is the art programs taking place in the Opening Ceremony (evening of November 18) and Closing Ceremony (evening of November 20) with many special performances by artists, singers, professional and non-professional actors and people from localities in the province.
