Italy did not need a doubles match to settle the final after winning both singles matches. Berrettini and Sinner did well in the singles matches, with Berrettini beating Botic Van de Zandschulp 2-0 (6-4, 6-2), and Sinner beating Griekspoor in two sets.

The win marks Jannik Sinner's seventh major title of 2024, having already won the Australian Open, US Open, three Masters 1000s and the ATP Finals. Sinner is in near-perfect form, with 29 wins in his last 30 men's singles matches.

As for Italy, they have become the first team to successfully defend this title for two consecutive years since the Czech Republic's achievement in 2012-2013.

The victory also concluded a successful year for Italian tennis, when the women's team also won the Billie Jean King Cup team tournament four days ago.

Italy arrived in Malaga as the favourites for the Davis Cup, with Sinner, the current top-ranked player, winning all four of his matches in the tournament, including three singles and one doubles. Sinner won 73 matches this season, including 14 at the end of the year without dropping a set.

Berrettini also contributed greatly with 2 singles wins and 1 doubles win. Meanwhile, the Bolelli - Vavassori pair did not have to play any matches during their journey to the final round.

As for the Dutch team, although they only finished second, they left an impression when they unexpectedly eliminated host Spain in the quarterfinals. This was the first time in 104 years of participation that the tulip country tennis team won the right to the Davis Cup final.
