The first training session started at 8:30 p.m. on March 1, a rare time for Vietnamese players in general, but not unfamiliar to most of the U23 Vietnam players in this gathering because they were once students of coach Philippe Troussier when playing for the U19 Vietnam team in the 2019-2020 period.
One of them, defender Phan Tuan Tai, shared this with the media. He said: “Before, I and my friends were also used to practicing at this time under coach Philippe Troussier. So, we are also used to practicing at night, without much impact. About 2.5 to 3 hours before the practice session, the team also had a light meal. After the practice session, anyone who is hungry can have a light meal before going to bed. The coach and his assistants also calculated so that the students do not get tired or lack sleep when practicing at this time.”

Sharing more about the French strategist, Tuan Tai said: “On the field, he is very strict and disciplined the players. In real life, he is gentle, lovable, and approachable. In his first time returning to work with Vietnamese football, I am very much looking forward to my own performance. The whole team must be more focused. I will try every day to develop myself.”
During this first training period lasting one week, coach Philippe Troussier mainly observed and evaluated the players to select the most suitable factors for the playing style that he will apply to the team. The team's strength will be screened through each training cycle, thereby also creating a very positive competitive atmosphere right from the first movement.
